“Give a man a mask and he will show you his true self.” – Oscar Wilde.
well… that’s complete nonsense imo but this quote fits the picture 😛

Hey what’s up?
This blog is about sharing travel experiences, finding the most delicious munchies beers and sharing memories with the hobos I’m going to meet on the road but also with any other person that takes interest in my poor life decisions and shenanigans. That’s also the reason why I write in English and not in German, however I will still write one or another article in German. I might even give some useful tips, sometimes with a grain of political incorrectness.

By the way, my name is Ben and on my following trip I will celebrate the start of my hoboetry.
I am a 27-year-old electrical engineer and technophile (hence the madengineer.ch domain) with a -soon to be quit- job I actually really like. I had the luck of growing up in the suburbs of the biggest city in the land of bünzlitum (Switzerland) and I am about to leave this safe haven to explore the world. Therefore I officially declare the glorious beginning of my quarterlife crisis. I mean, why not? I have nothing to lose, except maybe my sanity… but that’s probably too late anyway 😛
What to not expect:
You won’t see any articles with attention whoring titles like “The ultimate guide to being a dick to locals” or “12 ways to become a cheapass” that just provide “tips” which are nothing more than common sense. (Search for “cheap travelling” on google and you know what I mean or just click: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=cheap+travelling ). This blog is not intended to make money rather than to entertain so there’s no need for such atrocious click-baiting articles.
Enough.
The plan.
My first stop will be Cuba, well-known for its rum drinking, cigar smoking and relaxed population. From there I will fly down to Curacao to explore the magnificent
creatures in the waters of the underworld – a.k.a. snorkeling and scuba diving. After that: Hablas Español? No not really. Medellin Spanish school, here I come!
So yeah, that’s it so far. Have fun reading the blog and looking at the pictures.
-Ben
